Artist and cultural instigator susan june silanee, aka, soosanjoon, is on a balladromic course towards history. As you know, in this day and age accolades are thrown about recklessly – not here. Think back to those people who captured an age – the individuals who break the moment by turning the artistic present into the past. This is soosanjoon. So for those of you unfamiliar with her story, the following passage is her most current profile.   To begin - in recent years, soosanjoon's artistic development has been given careful consideration.   Nevertheless, she will not be cleverly summed up through the written word.  

This is for a variety of reasons.   One of them, as it is often stated, is that she is not merely an accomplished artist.   And while her body of work warrants careful investigation, it too will not be neatly summarized in this text.   You see, soosanjoon's art will not be made plain for the same reason she will not be.   Having said that, the evolution of this artist must be recorded regardless of what can and cannot be conveyed through the medium of sound and syllable.

soosanjoon is art manifested.   What does this mean?   Art, being the product of one's experiences suggests that she must be experienced to be correctly understood.   That would be ideal.   And pleasant though an idea it is for one to engage the mind of the artist, it is generally impossible to do so.   And thus the focus is thrown back on one's work, which is only as it should be.

In the case of soosanjoon the work manages to speak for itself.   To date, her compositions span many mediums and are extremely diverse.   As a result some might suggest that she has yet to find her niche.   While that may be true, the notion rests on a singular school of creative thought.   'Artistic impulse leads where it leads' might be soosanjoon's modus operandi .   If so, it has served her well.

Consider that in any real sense her artistic career has only begun.   Even so over the years she has produced a body of work that is startling.   Like her creations, soosanjoon is provocative.   When in the company of her peers, she possesses a rare intensity of individualism.   Always analytical, soosanjoon developed a love for drawing and painting at a young age.   Color, it seems, was innate.   From the first moment the ink bled across the blank page she stayed the creative course.   And now her talents are refined.

soosanjoon is an arbiter of color, style and art.   Like Gautier, she has always been one of those pour qui le monde visible existe .   The School of the Art Institute of Chicago strengthened her eye for detail.   The program serves as the crowning point of her formal education.   Now she is focused - some might say dream driven - and when attacking her many pursuits, soosanjoon employs a work ethic that is impressive to say the least.   It seems inevitable.   Through her being what she is, it's no wonder that her star is in the ascendant.

Now living on the West Coast, soosanjoon's latest creations again reveal a shift in style. As always, alien surroundings are sending the young artist in new and exciting directions.   It is anyone's guess what will happen next.   Only to be sure, it will be fantastic.   The following paragraph offers a terse account of soosanjoon's life leading up to present time.

Born in 1978 to Iranian ex-patriots, soosanjoon displayed signs of unique artistic talents throughout her formative years.   After an eventful childhood, she continued on to college and completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona.   She then spent a brief period spanning the globe on a quest to experience and explore other cultures.   Once back she applied to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was accepted.   For the next two years soosanjoon met out each creative challenge with confidence.   The young artist cut her teeth to the backdrop of the Chicago city and then exited the Midwest poised to carve out her future wherever inspiration called.

Today soosanjoon continues to create art and stir pop culture. Armed with the rudiments with which she began, raw talent is now refined and her abilities are more shocking than ever. Stay tuned...
